Presentation Description: Siting and permitting projects have the possibility of being held up due to improper planning, lack of adequate surveys, or incomplete management plans for various wildlife and plant species. Here we present montioring techniques that will be most helpful for planning and siting wind and solar projects across the intermountain west. Focus will be on bats, eagles, small mammals, migratory birds, amphibians, raptors, swift fox, and even pollinators! Bats and pollinators are typically the most overlooked species when planning projects. Planning and monitoring for potential species related to energy projects can help managers make informed decisions and to aid in preventing impacts to populations (while also avoiding road blocks to the project schedule).
