Presentation Description: New York has some of the most aggressive renewable energy generation targets in the nation. But not only will achievement of those targets require a massive deployment of new renewable energy generation, it will also demand unprecedented investment in the State’s transmission infrastructure to bring new upstate and offshore generation to load centers, and require that existing renewables—especially vintage onshore wind facilities nearing the end of their useful life—be repowered and retained within the State’s existing baseline. In this presentation, Young/Sommer Partners Jessica Ansert Klami and Laura Bomyea Darling will explore the evolving legislative, regulatory and incentive-driven efforts by the Empire State to encourage industry investment in transmission and the repowering of onshore wind projects as key complements to the State’s ongoing push to achieve 2030 targets.
