Charlotte Overby (she/her) is Vice President of Conservation Field Programs at the Conservation Lands Foundation-a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting, restoring and expanding the Bureau of Land Managment's National Conservstion Lands through education, advovacy and partnerships. She leads CLF's field team to develop diverse and effective coalitions, strengthen grassroots voices, and empower partners to work at the local level toward globally significant conservation. Charlotte provides leadership for CLF's engagement with the Western Solar PEIS, national monument designations, conservation and land health rule, and earlier in her career ran CLF's habitat restoration program which allowed her to partner with various energy companies. Before joining CLF, she was Communications Director and Acting Executive Director of the Nevada Wilderness Project. Before that, she worked in Patagonia’s creative services department in Ventura, CA, managing catalog production teams.
She graduated from Mount Holyoke College, has an MA in journalism from the University of Missouri and worked as a freelance writer and editor for a variety of media, usually covering conservation and science issues. She was co-founder and director of Missouri River Relief, an organization that continues to measure its “results by the tons” of trash hauled from the river and by the thousands of kids who take river field trips. Charlotte is also a professional double bass player—most recently with Swing Soleil, a jazz-swing quartet in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where she lives and works.
