Presentation Description: The number and size of utility scale solar projects being deployed across the US is increasing rapidly. Stormwater management is often challenging for large solar projects, and requires a unique approach due to the size, scale of land disturbance, location, and re-stabilization process required. This presentation will cover key stormwater elements that should be considered during four phases of the project life cycle: planning, engineering, construction, and operation. Starting with the rapidly evolving policy and regulation surrounding stormwater, the presentation will cover the affects the physical array layout, new racking technology, civil and structural design, erosion control BMPs, construction management, and vegetation management all have on a project’s stormwater management approach.
